I don't like how often preferences about media are passed down as absolute facts, especially on the Internet. Things are labelled as "masterpieces" and as "the best things ever made" constanty. Everything that doesn't fall in that category just isn't good enough to be worth the time and you shouldn't enjoy it. Just because a show has some flaws it doesn't mean I can't enjoy it, just like I don't have to enjoy every part of it. Someone pointing out a flaw might open you a new perspective, it doesn't mean that they're disrespecting the author's work or that they want to attack you. A good game don't expire after a new one comes out. Something can still entertain you years after it was made, otherwise things like retrogaming wouldn't exist. And if you genuinely like something that's popular, there is no problem with it. Someone calling it "overrated" doesn't stop you from enjoying it. Each of us has their own preferences, not everyone will like the same things. It sounds obvious, but I see too many people forget it.
